A look at some current styles

Baby Phat, Dereon and Rocawear styles are largely featuring lipstick red, purple, white and black and occasional grays. However, Baby Phat in incorporating lots of metallic's, sequins, geometrics and vivid colors in their fashions!

I noticed that Rocawear always has variations on the old polo shirt!

I also noticed:

• Their 'Women's' Ts do come in sizes up to 2XL

• Most 'Women's' fashions at these stores cost less than their full figure versions

• Rocawear has excellent size charts!

• Baby Phat and Torrid have good size charts, Apple Bottoms, ok size charts and Dereon, none currently.

If you are like me and have plan jackets that need either accessories or graphic Ts to peek out from underneath, you will find all kind of them at all the stores featured in this page's right column!

Currently I am partial to a few that are in Dereon's under $20 sale section. It is worth noting that when Dereon says they are taking some % off sale items, or their whole site, they INCLUDE their sale section on those price reductions! and Rocawear's Roc The Wall tee.

As I am a full figure woman with an inverted triangle shape, I wrote up how various Baby Phat, (I hope to try Apple Bottoms soon), styles work for this shape body. I have been looking at this for a few years now and I really like the way ladies urban wear puts new spins on classic plus size dresses and other fashions!

Trendy Plus Size Fashions

For business, casual and nights out!

I do not know about you, but I like to feel when I buy a clothing style, I want to be able to wear it for years. I also prefer clothes that double, as business and / or evening, club, wear.

That is why I like urban fashions. I consider them, often very figure flattering, fresher classics. There for good to last, handy to have in the wardrobe and a good investment!

Like this Dereon Sweater dress, on sale and in sizes 1XL to 3XL. I see from time to time at urban wear eBay stores. which is nice because now, 9/28/10, it is out of stock at Dereon...

The dresses, t-shirts, leggings and blouses at the stores featured on this page, in the right column, tend to come in sizes 1XL to 3XL. They all have beautiful accessories and sexy shoes!

You will find trendy dress shoes, boots, wedges, sandals, pumps, even sneakers at Baby Phat. The other stores featured here also carry their own unique footwear lines!

These thong wedge sandals below are from Baby Phat. They come in brown/army color as well in sizes 6 to 10.

The above is unusual for Baby Phat, who normally feature much higher heeled and platform footwear styles.

All these stores have their own wide selections of unique plus size jeans, and a smaller array of leggings. Actually, I do not find a leggings section at Dereon at the moment. Each store has their own unique qualities, besides obvious style differences:

I find Baby Phat's and Dereon's styles are often more feminine than Rocawear. Not too surprisingly, they both have girls and new born sections. Baby Phat has plus size swimwear part of the year. Dereon has bras, (32B to 36C is what I am finding so far), and panties, to size XL.

If size charts are important to you

or the ongoing size chart dilemma re. Baby Phat, Apple Bottoms, Dereon and Rocawear.

Of the urban wear stores mentioned above, Baby Phat has consistently, since I have been watching, had size charts. However for a while, Apple Bottoms and Dereon did too, but not Rocawear. Then Rocawear came out with a link to their total site size chart at each item! Then Dereon's size charts disappeared, and not so have Apple Bottoms.

Currently, 7/2011: Baby Phat, Apple Bottoms and Rocawear have size charts and Dereon does not. This has changed several times now, with Baby Phat consistently having them, while the other's size charts come and go...

Lately size charts at Apple Bottoms have been a bit sketchy. For example, I click on the size chart next to a woven material jacket I am considering, and get a Just the bust measurements for Knit Tops. Lady Volga, a top rated eBay seller, actually provides details and measurement for it seems, all the styles she sells! So I may well use her measurements of a New With Tags Apple Bottoms' woven, short sleeve shirt in sizes 1X to 3X for the measurements I need to decide.

Baby Phat

Baby Phat fashions feature their beautiful logo cat line drawing on their signature tees and jeans. You will often find it on their plus size swimwear, usually plain tank style one piece bathing suits. Other than that, in dresses and blouses for instance, it is very subtle. Ok it is pretty prominent in plenty of their jewelry styles too.

Baby Phat has a Plus Size section, but if you are looking for average size women's clothing their, it is in Juniors. If the size chart you click on at an item's description shows junior's sizes, use the size chart in their left column menu when you are in their plus size section.

My Excellent experiences with shopping Baby Phat!

• Different colors of the same style at Baby Phat are listed separately.

• They, and Apple Bottoms, have size charts available at each item's description. Sadly Dereon and Rocawear do not provide size charts. It keeps me from trying their apparel...

• You can usually find a Zoom / More Views at the bottom left of each items description.

• I find their tops, blouses, jeans, and dresses to be sized exactly as their size charts say!

Because they make it easy to really see what you are buying, on a full figure woman, usually, with true size charts. I believe this is why I have no experience to share with you about their exchange or  return department...

Also, I did once shop them when they had a free shipping deal for the amount I purchased that day. When I saw I was charged shipping, I called Baby Phat Customer Service. I was delta with politely and the shipping charge was returned to my account promptly!

Shop Baby Phat and Receive Same Day Shipping. *Orders must be placed by 2pm EST. I placed an order between 1 and 2 est., and was pleasantly surprised, to meet the UPS guy delivering my order at 12:30, the next afternoon! I paid standard shipping. It looks like Dereon has a similar shipping standard, but I have not tried that yet.

Shop A New Sale Everyday! Shop Baby Phat! Yep! Looks like. In fact, I am beginning to think shopping Baby Phat can, (Provided the item you want does not go out of stock before it goes on sale.), can be just as inexpensive as shopping One Stop Plus.

Just watch the item, or their sales, subscribe to their mailing lists to be alerted to their several hours, up to 50% off sales, and you have a real good chance to get what you want for much less.

Just go to Baby Phat, then select New Special Offers in their left column once you go to Plus Size there to see what is on sale today!

Not that all the available sales have prevented me from shopping what I know will work for me at full price. Only to see it go on sale, then later on sale with a discount later.

I find I am not disappointed. Even if it is still available in my size, as the price drops. Just wearing their clothes, how they feel and how I look in them, makes up for the price.

I am, just a tad, kicking my self for not shopping them sooner! I have an inverted triangle shape, with a large gut and bust line. I am thrilled to not look frumpy anymore!

I will start trying these other urban fashion stores below as well!

Rocawear

Rocawear now has size charts at each item's description! Yes. I have been waiting for this!

Rocawear apparel features several different logos. One is a simple loop logo. Perfect for if you really do not want to feel like someone else's bill board! They also have beautiful color saturation in lots of their clothing, especially t shirts!

They have polo shirts, as well as fashion shirts and tees. They had a fine collection of fashion vests! Excellent for hiding muffin top or smoothing out your top when you best bras are all in the wash at once!

4/2011: This is the last of those vests, now available in size 2X, for just $30.

Dereon

Dereon features a fleur-de-lis logo. That fleur-de-lis is mostly prevalent in their signature section of apparel and jeans. They have a wide selection of dresses, tops, pants, lavish accessories and sexy high heeled shoes!
