Plus Size Shapewear

There is a wide variety of shapewear available to us these days!

What we are looking for in shapewear all depends on our specific needs, often for specific days at that.

I cannot hope to cover it all here, so I will just, for now at least, try to show what I have found in terms of good prices and reviews and to share my experience about the few styles I have tried, so far.

One thing that surprised me about shapewear over the years is:

I am wearing these because they feel good styles

While not a category at any store I am aware of, here is mine:

Bali's #8019 comfy light control ribbed tank.

I love mine, just ordered a 2nd one, along with the firm control tank top.

This is a smoothing, not shaping style. It feels so comfy there is no reason, at least in the cool fall weather, to not have my extra back fat smoothed out, while this tank makes me feel snug and warm!

Both Bare Necessities and Her Room have them listed in plus size shapewear, though they only come up to size 2XL. They seem to have lots of room, still snug though, and are nice and long!

I wear Lytess bike shorts and leggings, any time I can feel comfy with no pockets, because they are comfy!

They are suppose to reduce you by inches with the caffeine, shea butter and other ingredients. I have no idea if they do or not, I do not care, I just wear them because they feel good!

These leggings, and their similar bike shorts will not shape you, just by putting them on. They are super stretchy, with waistbands that likely could not roll if they tired!

Upon finding this out, I tried one of their bra styles, figuring I'd be getting a super comfy, moisturizing leisure bra. Not so, not even if they came in my cup size. They do not, it was just that the leggings have all the give in the world, so I tried it. Based on this, I figure their actual shaping styles likely do provide firm shaping.

Best Selling Plus Size Shapewear

Looking at Her Room plus size shapewear, and selecting 'Sort by Customer Ratings' is a tad more believable to me than what I found at Bare Necessities below in that you will find a variety of styles and makes there.

They also have the added attraction of customer reviews, as does Leonisa below. Bare Necessities often has shapewear sales, yet as with bras, Her Room often has the same styles marked down to the same or similar sale prices, just less publicized.

Shopping Shapewear in the plus size section at Bare Necessities, and selecting Sort by Best Sellers, we find Spanx and lots of it. They also have Sha ToBe resistance tights and high waist panties, Flexees, Miraclesuit, Not Your Daughters Jeans and more too.

Spanx is now a long time favorite and seldom on sale. Nor do many discounts apply to Spanx shapers. Check out our plus size shapewear at eBay stores section below to find one source for plus size Spanx for less!

Bare Necessities has this super higher power Spanx shaper in hosiery sizes up to G. They have many other Spanx plus size shapers, and a few Spanx bras, tights, leggings, camis, slips and half slips.

I found out you can get Spanx, and I buy Lytess leggings, brand new, with tags, from highly rated sellers, at eBay stores.

Plus Size Shaping Apparel

So far I have looked into Shape FX and Lytess leggings and bike shorts and Bali shaping tank tops. I plan to be checking out others like Yummie Tummy, Miraclebody and others soon.

I will have more on Lytess leggings, (love them!), and more here shortly. Also, so far I am really enjoying Bali light control tank top, (loved mine, ordered a second one), and will be trying their firm control one soon.

Bare Necessities has Shape fx plus size shapewear and it is usually not excluded from their numerous discounts!

Like these reasonably priced leggings pictured a bit below in sizes 1X to 3X!

Warning: Shape fx appears to be Sized Much Larger than provided size charts indicate. You can find out the details of my experience with these leggings so far in Shape fx Plus Size Leggings. This sizing problem exceeds the usual, too big in the hips I and other inverted triangle shaped women find common.

However, my 11 year old, self proclaimed Fashionista daughter felt the body skimming size XL 'Looks HOT!!'

Perhaps we would want them in both body skimming and shaping sizes...?

Mentioned above are Shape fx shaping apparel styles, which I am checking out. As of 3/2011 I can tell you:

• sized large, order down at least one size, in the leggings at least.
• The leggings are heavy in weight

Waist Cinchers

Rago Plus Size Shapewear on sale

This sexy 50s inspired Rago waist cincher seems to be always on sale now at Her Room. It comes in sizes up to 6X and gets plenty of excellent reviews from full figure women! Click on its picture to read the reviews, learn more or shop for it at a nice sale price!

This higher waist Rago waist nipper below also seems to be on perpetual sale at Her Room as well. It too gets plenty of rave reviews and comes in sizes up to 8X.

The above Rago waist nipper gets good reviews at Figleaves store too. At Her Room the size chart are in inches, the descriptions are more complete and this shaper comes in much larger sizes. Her Room has three other plus size waist cinchers, one a thong back, by Rago on sale at the moment too. Their sale section is located in their left menu of their home page. Then you can narrow your search by department, brand and brand it you like.

Her Room usually also has plus size Flexees waist nippers on sale too.

Wearer reviews at Her Room usually give the size each woman reviewing. I think this should help see what the feed back is about a product if you can read a review by someone built like yourself. Just My Size has this in, at least, their panty reviews. I wish all online clothing stores did!

Well I wore mine out. This waist cinching, tummy flattening vest does all that it says and feels great doing it! Click on it's picture to find other women's opinion of Squeem's rubber Brazilian waist cinching vest, or "fajas". For seamless, I like Spanx!

Having worn mine to smithereens, I'm replacing it with their Squeem Extra Firm Control Perfect Waist Cincher cheaper than the above waist cincher vest. It has heavier hook and eye closures too. The waist cinching vest comes in full figure sizes up to 5X. The High compression cincher in sizes up to 4X!

Considering how expensive full figure bras, especially the larger cups size ones, it would pay us well to take their advise! I find I often wear out bras, favorite T-shirts, and now recently a much favored waist cincher I really enjoyed wearing. Yet also too pricey to wear out so fast. This is perhaps how I did it. Now I've got a bra that really fits, and this advise. I can't, at the moment, spring for a 2nd one to alternate with. So I'm making due with the old ones of the not so right size till I can get more. In the hopes of making this now favorite bra last!

Leonisa, as store with many Cinchers, Fajas and more

Bridal Bras, Bustier
